TOP three teams Golden Square, Castlemaine and Sandhurst all marked big wins in Sunday’s 15th round in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy competition.
Second in the premiership race, Castlemaine scored an 83-nil win against White Hills at The Railway Hotel Oval in Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve.
The Jordan Cochrane-coached Castlemaine led by 45 points at three quarter-time and then clicked up a few gears to score six goals in the last.
Magpies’ captain Tiahna Cochrane kicked four goals as Eillish Cumming, Georgia Gordon and Mikaela Trethowan added two each.
Best for Castlemaine were Eillish Cumming, Mikaela Trethowan, Taylah Sartori, Alice D’Arcy, Tiahna Cochrane and Emma Pedretti.
Sharni Barker, Sasha Pearce, Tracey Anderson, Carine Comer, Chelsea Edwards and Maiya Pearce were best for White Hills.
The Demons’ line-up which is coached by Sharni Barker and Allara Jackson is fifth on the ladder and in a fight with Wedge-Tailed Eagles to qualify for finals.
Golden Square dominated its home game against Wedge Tailed-Eagles at Gourmet Pantry Oval in Wade Street.
The Darren Walsh-coached Golden Square led 33-nil at quarter-time and held a 69-point margin by the long break.
The blue and gold added three goals in the third term and then scored five in the last to complete a 124-nil victory.
Gabby Drage slotted eight goals to now be on 60 atop the goalkicking ladder.
Other multiple goalkickers for Golden Square were Taylah Moore, four; Gemma Roberts, three; and Kira Gibbson, two.
Best for the Bulldogs were Gemma Roberts, Ava Barker, Lauren Knight, Gabby Drage, Mackenzie Bickley and Ruby Demeo.
Was a tough afternoon for the Phil Hawkes-coached Eagles.
A list of WTE’s best was not supplied.
Biggest margin of the round was 168 points as Sandhurst dominated on Bendigo Thunder’s ground at Weeroona Oval.
Third in the premiership race, Sandhurst scored seven goals in the first quarter and five in the second.
Quarter three was to be the best by the maroon and blue as it kicked nine straight goals.
Another five in the final term capped a 168-nil victory.
Tahlee Gray capped a superb match with nine goals as Lily Campbell kicked five goals and Charlotte Scanlon slotted two.
Best for Sandhurst were Tahlee Gray, Lauren Suleiman, Lily Franklin, Chelsea Reeves, Ruby Campbell and Sarah Baldwin.
The Sandhurst line-up is coached by Liam Ireland and Andrew Saladino.
Best for the Mick McInnes-coached Thunder were Alex Marshall, Jasmine Alcon, Ngaire Harlan, Jacqueline Radnell, Shasta Martion and Hollie Maher.
Marong forfeited its match with Eaglehawk which was to have been played at Jackal Oval in Marong’s Malone Park.

Eaglehawk takes on Bendigo Thunder at C and M Oval in Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park.
It’s the clash of the Eagles and Magpies as Wedge-Tailed Eagles play Castlemaine at Woodend’s Racecourse Reserve.
Sandhurst is drawn to play Marong at Queen Elizabeth Oval.

Round 12 in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL under-18 girls competition was played on Sunday.
Match of the day was at Woorinen where the Tigers played Sandhurst.
The Dragons put the heat on the Tigers to be within seven points at half-time.
Woorinen kicked clear in the third term as it scored four straight goals and kept Sandhurst to a solitary major.
The Dragons won the final term, 13-2, but it was the yellow and black which led 41-27 at the final siren.
Woorinen’s leading goalkicker was Charli Conway on two.
Chloe Tweed booted two goals for Sandhurst.
Best for Woorinen were Mayla Conway, Milla Stewart, Stella Bibby, Holly Thomson, Charli Conway and Sophia Watts.
Sandhurst’s best were Etta Place, Ruby Kelly, Alice Fraser, Moanarose Moefaauo, Lily Carter and Elke Fletcher.
It was a closely-fought match between Castlemaine and Storm at Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve.
Scores were six-all at quarter-time and Storm led 13-12 by the long break.
Storm surged clear in the third as it added 1.6 and kept the Magpies to just two behinds.
Two goals in the last clinched a 37-20 win for Storm.
There were no multiple goalkickers for either team.
Best for Storm were Scarlett Ward, Isabella Stevens, Jorja Cunningham, Gemma Fox, Chella Fitzgerald and Jasmin Wood.
Castlemaine’s best were Rhani Evans, Kate Batchelor, Isobelle Pratt, Freya Readsmith, Kirah Muscat and Miharo WiHare.
Closest margin of the day was four points as White Hills won a great contest with Marong at Jackal Oval in Marong’s Malone Park.
The Marong Panthers started strongly and led 8-4 at quarter-time and 23-10 by half-time.
A fired-up Demons team fought back brilliantly to score three goals in the third term as Marong added a point.
Both teams scored a point each in the last as White Hills fought on for a 29-25 victory.
Goalkickers for White Hills were co-captain Matilda Meersergen on two, and co-captain Jayda Alford and vice-captain Reagan Wirken with one each.
The Panthers’ attack was led by Molly Austin on two goals as Phoebe England was also on target.
Best for White Hills were Maleah Alford, Kassidy Cail, Jayda Alford, Reagan Finch and Emily Pickering.
Marong’s best were Emma O’Toole, Tianna Shay, Alyssa Wardell, Molly Austin, Phoebe England and Bella Orton.
It was a 27-point victory for Kangaroo Flat on Golden Square’s ground at Gourmet Pantry Oval in Wade Street.
The Kangaroos skipped to a 22-nil lead by quarter-time.
Golden Square struck back to score three goals in the second as the Roos added two behinds.
Kangaroo Flat won the third, 22-2.
A closely-fought final term went the way of the blue and gold, 7-6, but it was Kangaroo Flat which led 54-27 at the siren.
Matilda Rose starred in the Kangaroos’ attack with six goals.
The Bulldogs’ attack was led by Ruby Demeo on two goals.
Kangaroo Flat’s best were Matilda Rose, Melanie White, Miller Lindrea, Abigail Sendy, Indigo Brown and Ava Ahearn.
Best for Golden Square were Lucy Johansen, Emily Brown, Evelyn Williams, Sihanna Carter, Ruby Demeo and Poppy Eaton.
Eaglehawk marked its trek to the border by scoring a 27-point win against Echuca United at Echuca South Recreation Reserve.
The Hawks led the Eagles, 14-1 at quarter-time.
Echuca United hit back to win the second term, 8-1, as Chelsea Swiggs was on target.
In the third it was Eaglehawk which did plenty of attacking and scored 3.3.
The Hawks were up 36-9 at three quarter-time.
Neither team added to their tally in the final term.
Zoe Hodgskiss kicked two goals for Eaglehawk.
Eaglehawk’s best were Tahlia Thorpe, Rima Shanley, Zoe Hodgskiss, Jessica Cox, Matayah Leech and Maleah Lawry.
Isabella Nathan, Ava Plattfuss, Jordi Howe, Charlie Martin, Julia Taranto and Mia Siede played well for the Eagles.
