THE Hay Lions beat the Saints from Tooleybuc Manangatang in Saturday’s 11th round in Radio 3SH-backed Central Murray senior footy.
Hay led 22-8 at quarter-time of the clash in the Lions’ den.
A high-scoring second quarter went the way of the Saints, 32-31.
As it scored three goals in the third, Hay kept Tooleybuc Manangatang to a goal.
The Saints worked hard to win the last, 17-8, but it was Hay which led 83-64 at the final siren.
Harry Loughran led the Lions’ attack on five goals as Jack Headon and Declan Watson added two each.
Luke McComb and Cohen Fritch kicked three and two goals for the Saints.
Best for the Mick Cattanach and James Moran-coached Hay were Will Wolbers, Jack Cattanach, Harry Loughnan, Archie Houston, Jacob Watson and Dylan Collis.
The Saints’ best were co-coach Robbie McComb, Nick Ryan, Gareth Grant, Cohen Frith, co-coach Nayef Hamad, and Jedd Morris.
Swan Hill fought back for a two-point win against Lake Boga at Swan Hill Recreation Reserve.
The Jason Murphy-coached Swans faced a 16-point deficit at half-time, but worked hard to score five straight goals in the third.
Lake Boga was up 67-62 going into the last term.
Accuracy was a key factor as the Swans scored four straight goals as the Magpies added 2.5.
At the final siren Swan Hill led 86-84.
Eight goals by Patrick Veszpremi earned best afield honours for the Swans as Tom Smith slotted three majors.
Xavier Sherlock kicked three goals as Darcy Butler, Nathaniel Holmes-Brown and Jayden Lonergan added two each for the Dean Helmers-coached Lake Boga.
Best for the Swans were Patrick Veszpremi, Xavier Moloney, Matt Gilbee, Lane Cardenas, Tom Holdstock and Tom Smith.
Lake Boga’s best were Xavier Sherlock, Willem Pye, Darcy Butler, Chad O’Sullivan, Kamen Ogilvie and Max O’Reilly.
The Mallee Eagles landed a 52-point win at Ultima.
Six goals in the opening term gave the Harry Allen-coached Eagles a 22-point buffer by the first break.
As Mallee added four goals in the second it kept Storm scoreless.
Term three went the Eagles way, 17-2.
Ultima hit back to win the last, 18-5, but it was the Eagles who took the points in a 91-39 result.
Darcy Hourigan led Mallee’s attack on three goals as Shaun Harrison and Ethan Pinchen chipped in with two each.
Ultima’s leading goalkicker was Dustin Burns with three.
Best for the Eagles were Zac O’Meara, Marcus Wattie, Clinton Cummins, Cody Henness, Isaiah Bull and Shaun Harrison.
Ultima’s best were Thomas Isma, Sol Kelly, Jye Purtill, Dustin Burns, Matt Taverna and Darcy Farrell.
The Joel Donnan-coached Ultima is still in contention for a top-eight finish as it’s locked on 20 points, but 13 per cent behind the eighth-placed Koondrook Barham.
Moulamein marked a 57-point win at home against Kerang.
The Swans were up 35-7 at quarter-time before Kerang hit back to win the second term, 27-20.
A closely-fought third quarter went Moulamein’s way, 20-13.
Inspired by the play of Charlie Bowes, Peter Costanzo and Brett Kennedy it was Moulamein which scored five goals in the last on the way to a 107-50 result.
Kennedy capped a great match with six goals as Adam Curry and Peter Costanzo kicked three and two goals.
Kerang’s attack was led by Zak Bozanich on two.
Best for Moulamein included Josh Wills, Billy Bowes and Adam Curry.
Liam Jardine, Martin Kelly, Rylee Gitsham, Bohden and Johan McKnight, and Hugh Bremner were best for the Brad Pay-coached Kerang.
A Swans’ team coached by Brodie Tonkin and Hayden Dalitz is seventh on a six-five record.
Kooondrook Barham dominated its clash with Tyntynder in Barham.
The Marcus Demaria-coached River Raiders led 27-14 at quarter-time and then scored six goals as they kept the Bulldogs to a major in the second.
The KB line-up slammed on nine goals in the third and 10 in the last.
Clayton McCartney led the River Raiders’ attack on 10 goals in a 184-27 victory.
Other multiple goalkickers were Kye Atwell, four; Jack Shannon, three; Cameron Anderson, Martin Kelly, Liam Read, two.
Tyntynder’s attack was led by Zac Denham on two.
Best for Koondrook Barham were Liam Read, Martin Kelly, Clayton McCartney, Harry Bremner, Cameron Anderson and Jack Poulton.
Josh Dwyer, Tate Hulland, Elia Ware, Zac Denham, Patrick Crowe and Sam Bull worked hard for the Darcy Bibby-coached Tyntynder team.
It was an all-Kangaroos clash as Cohuna played Balranald at Cohuna Recreation Reserve.
The Jack Geary-coached Cohuna charged to a 45-nil lead by quarter-time and did not let up.
Cohuna won the second term, 44-13, and then scored six goals as Balranald was held to a point in term three.
Corbin Anderson went on to kick nine goals as Ricky Monti booted five in a 149-23 victory.
Cohuna had Charlie Ford and Joel Helman boot two goals each.
The Balranald attack was led by Brandon Gardiner on two.
Best for Cohuna were Corbin and Chris Anderson, Ricky Monti, Lachlan English, Jack Geary and Charlie Ford.
Ben Brett, Jack Salau, Liam Farnsworth, Tom Salau, Ryan Middlebook and Kane Agius were best for the Brent Macleod-coached Balranald.
Nyah Nyah West United scored a 169-36 victory on Murrabit’s turf.
The Corey Daniels-coached Demons unleashed a 10-goal blitz in the third quarter to turn a 39-point lead at the long break into a 108-point margin going into the last.
Riley Daniels, Ethan Saville, John Summerhayes and Liam White all kicked four goals for the Demons.
The NNWU line-up had Alex Erlandson slot three goals as Kyle Armstrong, Charlie Boulton and Corey Daniels added two each.
The Blues’ attack was led by Parker Bray on two.
Best for the Demons were Liam White, Ethan Saville, Nash Richman, Jack Palmer, Murndarr McInnes and Dominic Gallo.
Leo Ellison, Ryan Harvey, Ryan Smyth, Jackson Brady, co-coach Jack Shannahan and Adam Thomson were Murrabit’s best.

Reigning premier Woorinen scored a 231-point victory at Wandella.
As the Tim Free-coached Tigers racked up 37 goals they kept the Bombers to a goal in a 241-10 result.
Woorinen’s attack was led by Will Collicoat on seven goals as Hugh Thompson added six.
