LVFNL Football | Round 14 WRAP UP

Grenfell’s tally hits 111 after Marong’s big victory

MARONG key forward Brandyn Grenfell has charged to a season tally of 111 goals after he kicked 15 in the Panthers’ 14th round win against Newbridge in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL’s senior footy clash on Saturday.

Grenfell started the day on 96 and had reached the century mark by the 10th minute of the clash on the Panthers’ turf at Malone Park.

The league leaders scored 6.3 to 1.1 in the first term and then racked up quarter goal tallies of seven, nine and 12 to complete a 218-19 victory.

A highlight of the day the Gregg brothers, Corey and Ben both playing their 100th senior game for Marong.

Grenfell was the standout in the attack as Kyle Manley kicked four goals, and captain Corey Gregg and Kain Robins added two each.

Newbridge’s goalkickers were Jack Clark and Tyler McLeod.

Best afield honours went to Brandyn Grenfell as Kyle Manley, Corey Gregg, David Johnstone, Lachlan Lee and Ben Gregg were among the best for the Linton Jacobs-coached Panthers.

Tyler McLeod, Caleb Argus, Brandon Etherington, Austin Fithall, Patrick Andrews and Brodie Pearce worked hard for the Luke Freeman-coached Newbridge.

Mitiamo was too strong for Inglewood at John Forbes Oval in Mitiamo.

The Blues made a great start to lead 20-17 at quarter-time, but the Superoos clicked up the pressure and run to score 6.8 to 1.2 in the second term.

Ross Turner, Daniel Mowat and Troy Rogers played key roles as Mitiamo went on to win 118 to 42.

Brayden Baines kicked five goals and Ryan Wellington added four majors for the Superoos.

Inglewood’s attack was led by Charlie Ingham and Charlie McGaw on two each.

Best for the Marcus McKern-coached Superoos included Tom Grant, Nathan Twigg and Doug Thomas.

Charlie Ingham, Charlie McGaw, Bregon Cotchett, Reuben Johnson, Thomas Kennedy and Jaspa Wendels played well for the Darrell Billett-coached Blues.

Pyramid Hill bounced back from its first defeat of the season to score a 104-31 victory against Maiden Gully YCW at Marist College Bendigo.

The Bulldogs led 25-7 at quarter-time and 42-13 by the long break.

Zac Dingwall, Ryley Dickens and Gavin James won plenty of contests as the Nathan Fitzpatrick-coached Pyramid Hill scored 9.8 to three goals in the second half.

Bulldogs’ captain Steven Gunther kicked four goals as Mitch Cheesman, Bailey George and Jack Woodward chipped in with two each.

The Eagles’ attack was led by Natnael McLaren on three.
