Mitiamo defeats Demons in John Forbes Tribute Round

MITIAMO’S great form on the netball court rolled on against Calivil United in Saturday’s 13th round of A-grade action across the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football Netball League.

The Superoos and Demons met in the John Forbes Tribute Round at Mitiamo.

The day honoured an icon of the Mitiamo FNC and Loddon Valley FNL who did so much for sport.

The Laura Hicks-coached Superoos struck back from a four-goal deficit at half-time to draw level at a quarter to go.

Mitiamo finished brilliantly to cap a 54-50 victory.

The John Forbes Medals for best on court were awarded to Mitiamo’s Kelly Pay and Calivil United’s Amy Ryan.

Bridgewater scored a 61-24 win at home against Bears Lagoon Serpentine.

Marong rebounded from defeat to score a 39-24 win against Pyramid Hill at Malone Park.

It was a rest for Newbridge in A-grade, but the Maroons played Inglewood in the lower grades at Inglewood’s Dissy Machinery Oval.

Maiden Gully YCW had the bye.

 

Standings in the Loddon Valley FNL’s A-grade netball competition:

Maiden Gully YCW Eagles 163 per cent, 40 points; Mitiamo 137, 38; Calivil United 131, 36; Marong 122, 34; Bridgewater 108, 28; Newbridge 70, 16; Pyramid Hill 67, 12; Bears Lagoon Serpentine 46, 4.

 

In next Saturday’s play, Calivil United takes on Bridgewater at Calivil.

Marong and Newbridge clash at Marong’s Malone Park.

Maiden Gully YCW meets Pyramid Hill at Marist College Bendigo Oval in Maiden Gully.

It’s a rest for Mitiamo in A-grade, but the Superoos will play Inglewood in the lower grades at John Forbes Oval in Mitiamo.

Bears Lagoon Serpentine has the bye.
