LVFNL Netball | Round 16 PREVIEW

Ladder leaders clash on Mitiamo’s court

TOP teams Maiden Gully YCW Eagles and Mitiamo meet in this Saturday’s 16th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football Netball League season.

The Superoos will be determined to clip the Eagles’ wings at John Forbes Oval in Mitiamo.

There’s plenty of netball to be played in the run to finals, but the Eagles and Superoos could feature in the September 10 grand final.

The Christie Griffiths-coached Maiden Gully YCW is on a 10-game winning streak.

The Eagles’ run included a 67-54 win against Mitiamo in the seventh round at Marist College Bendigo Oval in Maiden Gully.

Key players for the Eagles include goalshooter Tia Webb; goal attack Meg Patterson, and Leisa Barry in the centre.

In last Saturday’s play, Maiden Gully YCW scored an 11-goal win at home against Calivil United as Mitiamo won by 16 goals on Pyramid Hill’s court at Mitchell Park.

After facing the Eagles the Laura Hicks-coached Mitiamo has a bye and then plays at Bridgewater in the final round of the home and away series.

Bridgewater returns to the court after a bye for a home game against Newbridge.

The round seven clash between the teams ended in a 44-42 win for the Mean Machine at Holloway Air Riverside Park in Newbridge.

The Aimee Brown-coached Bridgewater will be wary of an opponent which scored an 80-22 victory against Bears Lagoon Serpentine last Saturday.

The run for the Bears does not become easier as they are at home this round at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve to take on Marong.

The Panthers had a rest last week as Marong was drawn to take on Inglewood.

In round seven, Marong beat BLS by 37 goals at Malone Park.

Calivil United and Pyramid Hill clash on the Demons’ court at Calivil.

The Demons will be fired up to take the points and to keep the heat on Marong in the fight to claim third place and a double chance in the finals.

It’s a bye for Inglewood in the lower grades of netball.
