NEWBRIDGE gained a two-win break on Bridgewater in the race to decide fifth place on the A-grade netball ladder in Saturday’s 13th round of the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL season.
The Maroons and Mean Machine played on Newbridge’s court at Beck Legal Riverside Oval.
The Selina Holland-coached Newbridge played outstanding netball to claim a 44-32 victory against Bridgewater.
In the race for a berth in the finals, Newbridge is now on 28 premiership points and the Aimie Brown-coached Bridgewater is sixth on 20.
In what may have been a prelude to the qualifying final, Marong won a closely-fought match on Pyramid Hill’s court at Mitchell Park.
Both teams drew 34-all when they met in the fourth round at Marong’s Malone Park.
This time it was the Sue Borserio-coached Marong which won 41-37 against the Gemma Scott-coached Pyramid Hill.
Mitiamo was too strong for Inglewood on the Blues’ court at Dissy Machinery Oval.
The Jen Wilson-coached Superoos dominated from the first pass to record a 72-26 victory.
Calivil United marked its third win of the season when it played Bears-Lagoon Serpentine at Calivil Recreation Reserve.
The Chelsea Hicks-coached Demons won 46-24.
The Bears’ line-up is coached by Stacee Burns.
Maiden Gully YCW had the bye.
