Eagles eye upset on Newbridge’s court

MAIDEN Gully YCW Eagles will eye an upset victory when they play Newbridge in Saturday’s sixth round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL season.

The Adam Boldiston-coached Eagles start the round in sixth place on a two-two record.

A crucial contest will be played from 2.30pm at Walker’s Doughnuts Riverside Park in Newbridge.

A Newbridge team jointly coached by Selina Holland and Kristy Gandy is third on a three-one record.

In last Saturday’s play, Maiden Gully YCW marked a 52-35 win against Inglewood on the Eagles’ court at Marist College Oval.

As the Eagles soared, Newbridge had the bye.

Another big match will be at Marong’s Malone Park where the Panthers take on Bridgewater.

The Robyn Cunnington-coached Marong is seventh on a two-three record.

The Panthers controlled most of last Saturday’s game at Calivil to record a 46-28 win against the Demons.

Bridgewater is fourth in the premiership race.

Jointly coached by Olivia Collicoat and Caz Wood, Bridgewater was too strong for Bears-Lagoon Serpentine last round.

The Mean Machine won 45-34 at Bridgewater Recreation Reserve.,

The Danielle O’Toole-coached Bears-Lagoon Serpentine will aim to bounce back from defeat when it hosts Calivil United at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve.

Win and the Bears improve to a three-three record and hold the challengers for the fifth rung at bay.

The Haylee Fawcett-coached Calivil United will aim to keep the heat high in all quarters.

Inglewood is home at Centre State Scaffolding Oval to play Mitiamo.

The Abbey Hayes-coached Inglewood faces a massive task to end its winless run against the Superoos.

The Blues’ task made more difficult against a Jen Wilson-coached Superoos on the rebound from a 49-54 loss to Pyramid Hill.

Unbeaten in five matches, the Chelsea Emmerson-coached Pyramid Hill has the bye ahead of a home game against Newbridge at Mitchell Park in round seven.
