CASTLEMAINE withstood the heat from the White Hills Demons to win Sunday’s round seven clash in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL senior women’s footy season.
The Jordan Cochrane-coached Castlemaine led 33-1 at half-time of the match at The Railway Hotel Oval in Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve.
Despite some wayward kicking at goal, Castlemaine was in control on the way to an 8.13 (61) to 1.2 (8) result.
Georgia Gordon led the Magpies’ attack on three goals as Jemma Finning kicked two.
Demons’ captain Sasha Pearce was on target.
Best for Castlemaine were Eillish Cumming, Taylah Sartori, Tiahna Cochrane, Georgia Gordon, Jemma Finning and Maddi Brackenreg.

The ladder-leading Golden Square scored a 10-goal win against Wedge-Tailed Eagles at Woodend’s Racecourse Reserve.
The Darren Walsh-coached Golden Square raced to a 21-nil lead by quarter-time and won the next two quarters by 13 and 18 points.
At the final siren the Bulldogs were up 62-1.
The in-form Gabby Drage kicked three goals as Gemma Roberts and captain Liz Watkins kicked two each.
A list of Golden Square’s best was not supplied.
Aisha Mansfield, Demi Henderson, Amber Gajic, Mairead Murphy, Brooke Cowan and Lucy Lenius were best for the Phil Hawkes-coached Eagles.
Sandhurst scored a 20-goal win against Bendigo Thunder at Queen Elizabeth Oval.
The Dragons scored seven goals in the first quarter and then added four, three and three in the next three terms.
Grace Campbell led Sandhurst’s attack on four goals as Sarah Baldwin, Ava Franklin and Taylah Klemm kicked three each and Chloe Taylor booted two in the 120-nil victory.
Sophie Manson, Grace Campbell, Ava Franklin, Taylah Klemm, Sarah Baldwin and Katrina Alford were Sandhurst’s best.
The maroon and blue are coached by Liam Ireland and Andrew Saladino.
Hollie Maher, Stacey Barbagallo, Breanna Quinton, Ngaire Harlan, Belinda Johnstone and Rachel Salm were best for the Mick McInnes-coached Thunder.
Eaglehawk scored 40 goals on Marong’s turf at Jackal Oval in Malone Park.
The Molly Metcalf-coached Hawks had 58 scoring shots in a 258-nil win against the Panthers.
Best for Eaglehawk were Monique Gavriliadis, Courtney Coffey, Molly Metcalf, Lexie Moss, Darcie Whitehead and Grace Edlin.
Shauna Roy, Tidimalo Khalo, Alex Purdy, Danielle Humphrey and Bridget Chalkley were best for the Brett Carter-coached Marong.

It’s the Demons against the Dragons as White Hills hosts Sandhurst at the Scott Street ground.

Round four in the Champions IGA-backed CVFL under-18 girls competition was played on Sunday.
Echuca United marked its first victory in the competition as the Eagles beat Kangaroo Flat by 10 points.
The Eagles and Roos played at Echuca South Recreation Reserve.
It was a strong start by Echuca United which led 15-1 at quarter-time and 25-14 by the long break.
As the Eagles scored a goal in the third they kept the Roos to just two points.
Kangaroo Flat hit back to win the final term, 13-7, but it was the Eagles who landed a 39-29 victory.
Goalkickers for Echuca United were Jada Dennis, two; Charlie Martin, Ruby Morgan and Chelsea Swiggs.
Matilda Rose kicked a match-high three goals for the Kangaroos as London Benaim was also on target.
Best for Echuca United were Ruby Morgan, Lily Dunham, Jada Dennis, Charlie Martin, Indi Herrett and Matilda Fowler.
Ava Ahearn, London Benaim, Tarlie Davis, Ruby Sanders McMahon, Zarli Boslmen and Charlotte Wylie were Kangaroo Flat’s best.
Marong marked a three-goal win at home at Jackal Oval in Malone Park against Eaglehawk.
The Hawks led 15-9 at half-time, but the Panthers clawed their way back into the contest as they scored a goal in the third and kept the Borough to a point.
Marong dominated the final term to kick three goals on the way to a 34-16 victory.
The Marong attack was led by Molly Austin and Alyssa Wardell on two goals.
Marong’s best were Emma O’Toole, El Taylor, Alyssa Wardell, Molly Austin, Martha Nacken and Phoebe England.
Imogen and Jessica Brown, Kyah Spiteri, Sezin Lees, Alexandra Jones and Zoe Hodgskiss were Eaglehawk’s best.
White Hills scored a 26-point victory on Castlemaine’s turf at Camp Reserve.
The Demons led 22-6 at half-time and won the third, 12-nil.
Castlemaine hit back to score 1.3 in the last as the Demons added 1.1.
By the final siren White Hills led 41-15.
Adele McNaughton was in hot form with four goals for the red and black.
Best for the Demons were Maleah Alford, Reagan Finch, Maddison Collard, Elly Pickering and Adele McNaughton.
Castlemaine’s best were Shelby Kitchingham, Olivia Muscat, Kate Batchelor, Tegan Barry, Isobelle Pratt and Aaliyah Greenwell.
Storm dominated play at Queen Elizabeth Oval to defeat Sandhurst by 94 points.
It was a consistent performance by Storm which scored five goals in the first term, three in the second, four in the third and three in the last.
Akiva Morrissey and Marlie Skinner kicked three goals as Kirra Molloy and Scarlett Ward added two each in 101-7 victory.
Best for Storm were Scarlett Ward, Chella Fitzgerald, Jordan O’Bree, Akiva Morrissey, Rania Jackson-Leahy and Marlie Skinner.
Chloe Tweed, Moanarose Moefaauo, Macey Pinner, Etta Place, Addison Magro and Grace Kerr were Sandhurst’s best.
Woorinen took the points as Golden Square forfeited the match which was to have been played in Tigers’ territory at Woorinen Recreation Reserve.
