Many clubs a chance to claim premiership glory

THERE are 14 clubs who could claim at least one premiership or more across this weekend’s Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League grand finals.

First of 11 matches will be on Friday when Rochester plays St Francis Green in the under-12 Girls decider from 5.45pm at C and M Oval in Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park.

Kept scoreless by St Francis in 82 and 40-point losses in round six and 13, Rochester dominated the second semi-final to mark a 44-13 victory.

Tigers’ captain Frankie Hay kicked five goals to be best afield as Mackenzie Harvey booted two goals.

Best for Rochester included Ella Ford, Sophie Godden, Mackenzie Harvey, Ava Rasmussen and Annemarie Smith.

The Tigers kicked off the finals with a 48-nil win against Eaglehawk in the second semi-final.

St Francis Green won the preliminary final against South Bendigo Red by 44 points.

Lotti Childs kicked two goals in the 50-6 win to be among the best with Ellie Longford, Ellie Longford, Tilly Stewart, Albie Tyler and Eadie Willis.

A big day of action at Queen Elizabeth Oval on Saturday begains at 8.45am with the under-16A grand final between Golden Square and Strathfieldsaye.

The Bulldogs and Storm meet in the curtain-raiser to the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Football Netball League’s preliminary final day at the View Street ground.

First meeting of Golden Square and Strathfieldsaye this season was in the second round of grading where Storm won 87-67 at Gourmet Pantry Oval in Wade Street.

The Bulldogs won a 64-63 thriller at Triple M Park in Strathfieldsaye in round 11.

It was 48-44 as the Bulldogs won the second semi-final against Storm at White Hills.

Golden Square’s best in that contest were Francis Walls, Oisin Dunne, Spencer Snell, Zane Shevlin, Nate Bishop and Carter Andrews.

Storm struck back for a 116-22 win against South Bendigo in the preliminary final at Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park.

Darcy Tyler, Angus McIntosh, Henry Strang, Tadhg O’Keefe, Jed Willis and Kobi Read led Storm’s surge.

Five grand finals will be played on Saturday at Harry Trott Oval in Neale Street, Kennington.

First-up will Heathcote and Kangaroo Flat in the under-12D match from 9am.

In round 10, Heathcote won 40-27 on the Kangaroos’ ground at Bendigo Mazda Oval in Dower Park.

The Saints won the second semi-final against Maiden Gully YCW Eagles by nine points.

Kangaroo Flat bounced back from a 27-28 loss to the Eagles in the qualifying final to win the first semi against Strathfieldsaye by 21 points.

The Kangaroos marked a 61-28 win against Maiden Gully YCW Eagles in the preliminary final at Jackal Oval in Marong’s Malone Park.

Best for the Flat were Logan Jackson, Logan Moyle, Cooper, Hunt, Otis Mahon, Luke Bell and Raine Whyman.

Heathcote’s best across the season include Josh Vanzin, Liam Burton, Jack Tobin, Jax Buccella, Taj and Tauri Barrett.

In the under-12C competition, St Kilian’s-St Peter’s plays South Bendigo from 10.30am.

In round eight it was St Kilian’s-St Peter’s which beat the Bloods, 59-14 at Weeroona Oval.

A 53-15 win against Maiden Gully YCW Eagles in the second semi in Kangaroo Flat put St Kilian’s-St Peter’s into the grand final.

Darcy Fitt and George Kornmann kicked three and two goals in that victory.

Best were George Kornmann, Heath Barber, Henry Howitt, William McSweeney, Finn Rees and Riaan Desai.

South Bendigo won the first semi against St Monica’s by 15 points and followed up with a 45-20 win against Maiden Gully YCW Eagles in the preliminary final in Eaglehawk.

Tait Taruvinga kicked two goals against the Eagles to be among the best with Charlie Worme, Oliver Poole, Louis Fyffe, Levi Bright and Brodie Runciman.

It’s the Demons against the Magpies as White Hills and Castlemaine contest the under-12B match from 12pm.

White Hills won both matches against the Magpies at the Scott Street ground by 13 points and one point.

The Demons scored a 30-20 win against Marong in the second semi-final as Oliver Anfuso, Max Clark, Sam Sinclair, Bill Neyland, Jackson Boyd and Sebastian Watts were best.

Castlemaine scored a 28-15 win against Eaglehawk Eagles in the first semi.

Captain Sid Wiese slotted two goals as did Fletcher Cheesman to be among the best for the Magpies in their 46-20 win against Marong in the preliminary final.

In-form players for the Magpies include George Cordy, Sandy Atkin, Darcy Brown and Reuben O’Sullivan.

The Bloods take on the Sharks in an under-12A match which features South Bendigo and St Therese’s from 1.30pm.

In the fourth round of grading it was South Bendigo which beat St Therese’s, 80-19 at Ewing Park.

The Bloods have beaten the Sharks by 13, 48 and 31 points in their past three meetings.

Lastest showdown was second semi where South Bendigo won 50-19 in Toolleen.

Best for the Bloods were Hunter Tomlins, Percy Waterman, Nash McMaster and Jed Hardinge.

The South Bendigo squad includes Max Harper, Lenny Moroni and Lucas Sargeant.

St Therese’s won the preliminary final against St Francis in Marong by 15 points.

Mason Cluff kicked three goals to be best-on-groun in the 49-34 victory.

Players to watch for the Sharks include Parker Findlay, Will Florence, Xavier Hubble, Marcus K, and Louis Lapthorne.

Best in the second semi against the Bloods included Thomas Miller, Brad Ladson, Lewis Boxshall and Hugo Pertzel.

Marong and South Bendigo will contest the under-14C grand final at Harry Trott Oval from 3pm.

The Panthers will start favourites as they defeated the Bloods in the home-and-away series by 76, 51 and 78 points.

In the second semi-final, Hudson Schneider kicked six goals to be best afield in a 94-21 win against South Bendigo in Toolleen.

Chase Neal and Jett Austin kicked three and two goals for the Panthers.

Marong’s best included Zachary Harte, Jack Cooper, Xan Smit, Jett Austin and Jude Bentley.

South Bendigo hit back to win the preliminary final against White Hills by five goals.

Navarre Black kicked two goals to be among the best in a 60-30 win in Eaglehawk.

Best for the red and white were Flynn Bell, Jake Lawrence, Navarre Blake, Sebastian Collie, Koby Shelton and Hunter Fitzallen.

Four matches will be played on Sunday at Triple M Park in Tannery Lane, Strathfieldsaye.

The under-14B clash between South Bendigo and Sandhurst starts at 9.15am.

In the third round of grading, South Bendigo beat the Dragons, 56-35 at Ewing Park.

The Bloods won the 11th round clash with Sandhurst at Ewing Park by four goals.

On the first weekend of finals, Sandhurst marked a 65-23 win against Maryborough in the elimination final.

South Bendigo won the qualifying clash with Kangaroo Flat by 38 points.

The Dragons fought on for a 67-59 win against Kangaroo Flat in the first semi-final at Dower Park as Angus Purdy, Henry Bannan, Sam Gee, Flynn Watters, Amos Edwards and Hunter Horby were best.

A 72-51 win against Castlemaine in the second semi meant South Bendigo was first to the grand final.

Archer Griffin and Hudson Membery kicked two goals as Edward White, Lucas McCarthy, Darby Kramer, Ben Baker, Archie Clarke and Gus Robertson were best.

Sandhurst captain Seb Doak kicked five goals and Brady Brown booted two goals as Sandhurst scored a 57-43 win against Castlemaine in the preliminary final.

Best for the Dragons were Sam Gee, Seb Doak, Archie Smith, Henry Bannan, Ethan Schoder and Zac O’Meara.

It’s the Bloods against the Dragons in the under-14A match between Sandhurst and South Bendigo at 11.10am.

A 13-nil run by Sandhurst includes a 62-39 win against the Bloods in the first round of grading.

Sandhurst won the round 11 clash with South Bendigo at Ewing Park by 47 points.

The Bloods won the qualifying final against Strathfieldsaye, 82-35.

The grand finalists met in the second semi-final at Toolleen where the Dragons won 65-43.

Harry Rees kicked three goals as Quinn Casey and Sam Davie added two each.

Best for the Dragons were Elijah Willits, Henry Cooney, Kade Cochrane, Oliver Lalor, Levi Bell and Xavier Mulqueen.

Will Shadbolt kicked two goals as Fraser Maddern, William Waters and Charles Kemp were best for the red and white.

South Bendigo won the preliminary against Strathfieldsaye by 52 points as Henry Macnee and William Waters kicked three goals each.

Best were Cael White, Charles Kochar and Henry Macnee.

In the under-15 Girls competition, Sandhurst Navy will play Strathfieldsaye from 1.05pm.

In the third round of grading, Navy fought for a 31-29 win against Storm at Ewing Park.

The round 13 match between the teams at Ewing Park ended in a 44-8 victory for Sandhurst.

After a nine-point loss to Sandhurst White in the qualifying final, Storm hit back for a 36-19 win against Golden Square in the first semi.

Strathfieldsaye turned the tables in a 51-14 win against Sandhurst White in the preliminary final.

Mia Hirst kicked two goals to be best afield along with Addison Probert, Layla Hand, Alex Houghton, Greta and Lucy Pollock.

Storm’s squad includes Millie Balic and Harper Matthews.

The all-Sandhurst showdown in the second semi ended in a 31-24 win for Navy and White.

Best for Navy were Evie Milner, Shylah Whittle, Poppy Carter, Alana Borchard, Eliza Chapman and Ariah Whittle.

Final match of the season kicks off at 2.35pm when Strathfieldsaye meets Eaglehawk in the under-16B grand final.

It was 69-all in the first round of grading at Triple M Park.

Eaglehawk dominated in a 100-18 victory in Storm territory at Triple M Park in the 10th round.

It was Strathfieldsaye’s only loss of the season.

Five points was the margin in the second semi as Storm held on for a 77-72 win against the Hawks in White Hills.

Leading goalkickers for Strathfieldsaye were Declan Brasher and Eli Fennell on four as Isaiah Oataway kicked two.

Storm’s best were Jed Mannix, Declan Brasher, Oden Dean, Eli Fennell, Ned Oldham and Nash Kipping.

The Borough’s attack was led by Cashius Burke, Zac Farrow and Taj Ferguson on two goals each as Riley Hill, Max Scandolera, Cashius Burke and Jett McConnell were best.

Eaglehawk capitalised on home turf at Canterbury Park to win the preliminary final against Golden Square by six goals.

Taj Ferguson kicked three goals as Max Scandolera and Taiglan Turton added two each.

Players to watch in the Two Blues guernsey include Zac Farrow, Jace Hope, Finn Neivandt, Jackson Nisbet, Brodie Taylor and Taiglan Turton.
