MOUNT Pleasant is now the only unbeaten team in Agnico Eagle Fosterville Gold Mine-backed Heathcote DFNL senior footy following Saturday’s round four clash with Colbinabbin.
The Blues and Grasshoppers met on Mount Pleasant’s turf in Toolleen.
The Linton Jacobs-coached Colinbabbin led 25-16 at quarter-time before the Blues seized control in the second to score three goals and keep the green and gold to a major.
By half-time Mounts was up 39-33.
Colbinabbin doubled the Blues score in a third quarter blitz.
As the Grasshoppers slammed on six goals it kept the Blues to a tally of three.
Colbinabbin led 73-59 going into the last quarter.
A Blues team coached by Josh Hann, playing, and Cam Carter, non-playing, then turned momentum dramatically.
Inspired by the play of Brodie Montague, Josh Hann and Xavier Carter it was the Blues who scored six goals in the final term and kept Colbinabbin to a goal.
When the siren sounded Mount Pleasant was up 99-81.
The Blues’ attack was led by Xavier Carter, Brodie Leonard-Shannon and Ben Weightman on three each.
Brandyn Grenfell kicked a match-high five goals for Colbinabbin as Isaac Carracher slotted three and Alex Carr added two.
Best for Mounts included Deklan Wille, Brodie Leonard-Shannon and Ben Miller.
Colbinabbin’s best were Josh Smithson, William Le Deux, Toby Howlett, Angus Martin, Isaac Carracher and Tanner Nally.
The Luke Freeman-coached Elmore broke its season ‘duck’ in a 91-79 victory on White Hills turf in Scott Street.
The Bloods led 37-16 at half-time before White Hills unleashed an eight-goal blitz in the third quarter.
By the last change the teams were locked on 69-all.
In the final term Elmore scored three goals and kept the Demons to a major to complete a two-goal win.
Leading goalkickers for the Bloods were Lachie Gawel on four as Matt O’Dwyer and Ashton Sinn slotted two each.
The Demons’ attack was led by Mitch Dole on three and Tom Conlan, Strahan Robinson and Jake Thompson with two.
Best for Elmore were Lachie Munro, Ashton Sinn, Matt Gilmour, Lachie Gawel, Mychael Baker and Joseph Harney.
Mitch Dole, Doolan Nihill, Tom and Patrick Conlan, Lachlan Martin and Strahan Robinson were best for the Brad McConnell and Lachie Sawyer-coached White Hills.
Lockington Bamawm United dominated the final quarter at Pigeon Park in Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve to beat the Saints by 16 points.
The Jayden Howe-coached LBU led 50-29 at half-time.
Whatever was said at the long break sparked Heathcote as it scored seven goals in the third term and kept the Cats to a tally of three majors.
By the last change the Saints were up 73-71.
In the final quarter it was LBU which took control.
As the Cats added four goals they kept the Saints to just one.
LBU co-captain Tyler Phillips finished with three goals as Marcus Angove, Toby Coutts, Brayden Hull and Jack Jansen kicked two each in a 99-83 victory.
Dylan Johnstone slotted a match-high four goals for the Saints as Hugh Freckleton and Sean Williams kicked three each.
Best for LBU were Marcus Angove, Toby Coutts, Brayden Hull, Nick Smart, Jacob Gardiner and Thomas Leech.
Stefan Rasinac, Seb Barnett, Rhys Bolton, Will Tobin, Joey Beedle and Ben Connelly were best for a Heathcote team coached by Andrew Saladino, non-playing, and Liam Jacques, playing.
Leitchville Gunbower moved to the third rung on the ladder after a four-point win against Harlowe Huntly Hawks in Gunbower.
Desperate to end its winless run, Huntly led 32-20 at quarter-time and 47-22 by the long break.
The Joel Donehue-coached Bombers lifted their pressure, run and skills markedly in the third quarter.
As the LG team scored 4.2 it kept the Hawks to a tally of 1.3.
Huntly led 56-48 as the final quarter began.
Inspired by ruckman Jobee Warde, Luke Davis and Jack Dye it was the Bombers who won the final term, 26-14, on the way to a 74-70 victory.
Leitchville Gunbower’s attack was led by Ryan Allan on four goals as Blake Dye booted two.
Huntly’s leading goalkicker was Sam Dunstan on four as Darcy Walsh added two.
Best for Leitchville Gunbower included Billy Hawken, Ryan Allan and Nic Cattapan.
Huntly’s best were Sam Dunstan, Will Lee, Steve Kairn, Todd Stevenson, Harrison Campbell and Judd Gilchrist.
North Bendigo had the bye.

In the netball……COLBINABBIN won a great duel with Mount Pleasant in Saturday’s fourth round of A-grade netball in the Agnico Eagle Fosterville Gold Mine Heathcote DFNL season.
The rematch of the ’25 grand finalists was played on Mount Pleasant’s court in Toolleen.
The Anthea McCleary-coached Mount Pleasant worked hard to raise the pressure against the reigning premier which capped an unbeaten last season to defeat the Blues in the grand final.
A top contest ended in a 68-56 win for the Jen McIntyre-coached Colbinabbin.
Best for the Anthea McCleary-coached Mount Pleasant were Maggie Burke and Maeve Tupper.
The Blues and Grasshoppers both played for the Conroy-McTaggart Cup to honour Joan Conroy and Nell McTaggart who were key instigators of netball to the league and had a incredible impact at club level.
Wins in five of the seven netball matches meant Mount Pleasant earnt the Cup.
Two of Joan’s grand-daughters, Ivy and Maisy Harrop were on court for Mount Pleasant.
Not far from Toolleen and it was Heathcote which scored its first A-grade win of the season against Lockington Bamawm United.
The Brooke Price-coached Saints marked their first home of the season at Pigeon Park in Barrack Reserve with a 46-43 result.
It was a top contest between the Saints and the Stacy Bacon-coached LBU.
White Hills was too strong for Elmore in the Demons’ den.
The Elley Lawton-coached White Hills won 61-34 on the Scott Street court.
Was another tough hit-out for the Adam Boldiston-coached Elmore which has played Colbinabbin, had a bye, then met North Bendigo and then White Hills.
Details from the Leitchville Gunbower and Harlowe Huntly Hawks match at Gunbower were not supplied.
North Bendigo had the bye.
