Boort triumphs in Demons’ den at Wycheproof

BOORT marked back-to-back victories after an 82-68 result on Wycheproof-Narraport’s turf in Saturday’s 11th round of the Goldacres North Central Football League senior footy season.

The Magpies and Demons were locked on three wins apiece going into the match after the league’s general bye.

The Andy Hawker-coached Boort had beaten Charlton the previous round and was determined to take the points in the Demons’ den.

Boort led 26-14 at quarter-time and held the same advantage after both teams scored 16 points in the second term.

The Boe Bish-coached Demons won the third, 13-10, but it was the Magpies who added 4.6 to 4.1 in the last to complete a 14-point victory.

Magpies’ key forward Brodie Leonard-Shannon was in top form as he kicked five goals and six team-mates added a major.

The Demons’ attack was led by Justin Bateson, Matthew Beckmans and Cody Green on two each.

Boort’s best were long-time Magpie Keiren Wilson, Brodie Leonard-Shannon, Nathan Murphy, Matt Chisari, Levi Moss and Nathan Twigg.

Dane McLennan, Cody Green, Joe Kenny, Conner Burge, Dylan Turner and Spencer Allan played well for the Demons.

Results in the other three matches went as expected.

 

Donald scored a 175-17 win at Charlton Park.

Blake Grant kicked six goals, Josh Potter added five, and Michael Foster chipped in with four majors for the Royals.

Donald worked hard to hold the Navies to just two goals.

Best for the Royals were Ryley Barrack, Michael Foster, Brody Haddow, Blake Grant, Ryan Hards and Reece McNally.

Charlton’s best were Rhys Thompson, Aaron Walklate, Anthony Judd, Patrick Soulsby, Jackson Zagame and Jed Thompson.

 

The Birchip-Watchem Bulls beat St Arnaud by 127 points at Birchip’s George Cartwright Oval.

Nathan Gordon led the Bulls charge on six goals as Will Sheahan, five; Jacob Christie and Lachy Foott, three, capitalised on their team’s dominance in the on-ball and midfield duels.

Best for Birchip Watchem were Nathan Gordon, Elliot Jaeschke, Will Sheahan, Lochy Sirett, Jacob Christie and Sam Simmons.

Daniel Gifford, Harley Durward, Kurtis Torney, Jacob Tillig and Mitch Egan played well for the Torin Petrie-coached St Arnaud.

 

Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers roared to an 87-point victory on Wedderburn’s turf at Donaldson Park.

Justin Ellis kicked four goals as Wade Donnan, Billy McInnes and Will Simpson added three each for the Tigers.

The Redbacks were held to 1.2 in the first half and scored 2.2 in the final hour.

Best for Sea Lake Nandaly were Austin Mertz, Brodie Adcock, Trent Donnan, Matt Elliott, Brody Weir and Justin Ellis.

Wedderburn’s best were Joe Lockhart, Jaran McKay, Jordan Rosengren, Sam Lockhart, Mitch McEwen and Robert Tonkin.

St Arnaud and Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers clash at Lord Nelson Park in St Arnaud.

It’s the Bulls up against the Navies as Birchip Watchem faces Charlton at George Cartwright Oval in Birchip.

Donald tackles Wycheproof-Narraport at Donald Recreation Reserve.
