North Bendigo wins great contest with Huntly

NORTH Bendigo started the 2021 campaign in fine style as the red, white and blue fought for victory against Huntly in Saturday’s round one A-grade netball match in the Bendigo Bank Heathcote District Football Netball League.

The Bulldogs and Hawks played out an exciting game at Hibo Hotel Oval in Atkins Street.

North Bendigo hit back from a four-goal deficit at half-time to win 46-43.

In the match of the round, Elmore was too strong for Colbinabbin.

After a brilliant win on Good Friday at White Hills, Elmore followed up with a 47-29 result against Colbinabbin at Elmore Recreation Reserve.

Stung by defeat on Good Friday, White Hills bounced back to score a 54-22 victory against Leitchville Gunbower on the Demons court at Tint-A-Car Oval in Scott Street.

Heathcote started the season in great form.

The Saints outpointed Lockington Bamawm United, 40-26, in the Saints home at Pigeon Park in Barraack Reserve.

Mount Pleasant had the bye.

Standings in the HDFNL’s A-grade netball competition:

Elmore 151 per cent, 8 points; Heathcote 153, 4; White Hills 117, 4; North Bendigo 106, 4; Huntly 93, 0; Lockington Bamawm United 65, 0; Colbinabbin 61, 0; Leitchville Gunbower 40, 0; Mount Pleasant 0, 0.

The Mount Pleasant Blues open their season this Saturday on Elmore’s court at Elmore Recreation Reserve.

In other round two matches, Lockington Bamawm United takes on Colbinabbin at Nichol Trading Oval in Lockington.

Huntly plays Heathcote at Specialist Breeders Australia Oval in Huntly’s Strauch Reserve.

Leitchville Gunbower hosts North Bendigo at Degroot Roof Painting Oval in Leitchville.

White Hills has the bye.
