North Central NA go back-to-back to claim Cup glory

THE North Central’s NA netball squads triumphed in Sunday’s AFL CV Gala Day to claim the AFL Central Victoria Agnico Eagle Fosterville Cup honours in back-to-back years.

It was a great day of footy and netball action on the oval and courts at Marist College in Maiden Gully.

A talented Heathcote DFNL under-18s footy squad scored 14 goals in the one-off clash with Loddon Valley.

Jointly coached by Lockington Bamawm United ruckman Tyler Phillips and Leitchville Gunbower’s Matt Hawken, the Heathcote DFNL team won 14.9 (93) to 3.4 (22).

Agnico Eagle Fosterville medals for best afield were presented to Ben Millar, Heathcote DFNL; and Kane Harris, Loddon Valley.

The HDFNL team was captained by Pat Conlan from White Hills, with Heathcote’s Daniel Butler, and Colbinabbin’s Jude Ryan as vice-captains.

The Loddon Valley team was coached by Jade Clymo and Paul Thomson.

Captain of the LV line-up was Harrison Goodes from Pyramid Hill.

On the netball court it was North Central NA which showed their talents to win five of six matches across the three age groups.

In the 17-and-under competition, North Central defeated Loddon Valley, 41-28.

Match two was one of the best of the day as Loddon Valley clinched a 36-34 victory against Heathcote DFNL.

A 38-23 result against Heathcote DFNL sealed a clean-sweep for North Central’s team.

Heathcote DFNL dominated the 15-and-under netball.

In game one the Heathcote line-up scored a 47-18 win against North Central.

It was a one-goal margin when the siren sounded to end match two between North Central and Loddon Valley.

The NCNA team led 31-30.

Heathcote wrapped up a great carnival by scoring a 38-14 win against Loddon Valley.

Most valuable player awards went to Juliet Hogan, Heathcote DFNL; Tessa Sheahan, North Central; and Rachael Flood, Loddon Valley.

In the 13-and-under netball action, North Central capped an unbeaten run.

The series began with a 46-6 victory by Heathcote DFNL against Loddon Valley.

North Central then won a great contest with Heathcote DFNL, 21-19.

In game three, North Central marked a 43-9 win against Loddon Valley.

Most valuable player awards went to Maya Funke, North Central; Milla Ryan, Heathcote DFNL; and Siri Harrison, Loddon Valley.
