Panthers strive to derail Bridgewater

MARONG will try to derail the Mean Machine from Bridgewater in Saturday’s 13th round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley FNL season.

The Bridget Willox-coached Marong has home-court advantage at Jackal Oval in Malone Park for another big contest starting at 3pm.

It’s fifth against third as Marong starts the round a win behind Bridgewater.

When these teams met in round four it was the Caz Wood and Olivia Hoiles-coached Bridgewater which raced to a 67-42 victory.

The Panthers and Mean Machine were in hot form last Saturday.

Marong scored a 32-goal win at home against Calivil United.

It was a home-court for Bridgewater against Inglewood by 44 goals.

Pyramid Hill will be back on its court at Mitchell Park to take on Bears-Lagoon Serpentine.

Sixth on the ladder, Bears-Lagoon Serpentine must achieve a few upset wins on the run home to be a chance of playing finals.

Pyramid Hill played superb netball to almost end Mitiamo’s unbeaten streak last round.

At the siren Mitiamo led 59-57 on Pyramid Hill’s court.

It was 60-40 in favour of the red, white and blue when it played at Gadsden Finance Serpentine Reserve in round four.

The Hill’s team coached by Simone Edgley, Chelsea Emmerson and Laura Herbert will be confident of netting its 10th win of the season.

The Bears had the bye last round.

Huge test for a BLS line-up coached by Danielle O’Toole and Lara Clements.

Maiden Gully YCW Eagles face the ladder-leading Mitiamo at Marist College Oval in Maiden Gully.

In round four the Eagles were held to 25 goals as the Superoos poured in 80.

The Leisa Barry-coached Eagles will be determined to set up and capitalise on more attacking moves after scoring just 19 goals at Newbridge last Saturday.

Mitiamo’s pursuit of back-to-back premiership is led by joint coaches Abbey Battersby and Jess Kaur.

Just as it will be in next week’s State of Origin decider it will be the Blues against the Maroons as Inglewood hosts Newbridge at Centre State Scaffolding Oval this Saturday.

The Caitlyn Cartwright-coached Inglewood will be determined it’s not a 30-goal margin as it was at Deepcore Drilling Riverside Oval in Newbridge in the fourth round.

A Newbridge team coached by Selina Holland and Kirsty Gandy will be determined to keep the heat on in the fight for a top-three finish and double chance at finals time.

Calivil United has the bye.
