SWAN Hill took the premiership points against Hay in Saturday’s third round in the Radio 3SH-backed Central Murray FNL senior footy action.
The Swans and Lions clashed at Swan Hill Recreation Reserve.
A closely-fought opening term ended with the Swans in front, 14-10.
Swan Hill led 35-19 by the main break and then won the third, 23-17.
Led by the play of Matt Gilbee, Luke Phelan and Fraser Sawyer it was the Jason Murphy-coached Swan Hill which kicked on for an 80-62 victory.
Luke Phelan and Patrick Veszpremi led the Swans’ attack on four and three goals.
Hay’s leading goalkickers were Jack Cattanach and Declan Watson with two each.
Best for Swan Hill included Connor Dooley, Xavier Moloney and Patrick Veszpremi.
The Lions’ best were Harry Loughnan, Will Collis, Joel Crocker, Will Wolbers, Fergus Cattanach and Jacob Watson.
Hay is jointly coached by Mick Cattanach and James Moran.
Cohuna Kangas scored a 10-point win against Koondrook Barham in Barham.
The Jack Geary-coached Kangas kicked away to lead 37-9 by quarter-time.
Cohuna held a 17-point buffer at the main break and 16 points going into the final term.
Koondrook Barham fought back to win the last, 13-7, but it was Cohuna which marked a 90-80 victory.
The Kangas’ attack was led by Corbin Anderson and Daniel Coates on four goals each as Tom Toma added two.
Leading goalkickers for the KB line-up were Harry Bremner, four; Jacob Barrington and Jack Shannon, two.
Corbin Anderson, Sam McGlone, Daniel Coates, Charlie Ford, Cooper McLoughlan and Jack Geary led the way for the Kangas.
Best for the Marcus Demaria-coached River Raiders were Harry Bremner, Jack Thrum, Liam Read, Jack Poulton, Ryan Bartlett and Patrick Goble.
Moulamein marked a 27-point win at home against Wandella.
It was 33-all at quarter-time.
Moulamein was up 50-47 by the long break.
A tally of 4.8 as it kept the Justin Robinson-coached Bombers to a score of 2.2 in the third meant Moulamein led 82-61 going into the last quarter.
Defences were on top in the final term as the Swans scored 1.2 and Wandella was held to just two behinds.
By the final siren the Brodie Tonkin and Hayden Dalitz-coached Swans led 90-63.
Brett Kennedy led Moulamein’s attack on four goals as Adam Saunders slotted three and Charlie Bowes booted two.
The Bombers’ attack was led by Seth Rowe on four and John Cooper with two.
Moulamein’s best were Jack Jones, Peter Costanzo, Will Doquile, Charlie Bowes, Heath Moloney and Tom Worthley.
Nathan Boysen, Seth Rowe, Darcy Ramage, Gregor Knight, Archer Lancaster and John Cooper were Wandella’s best.
A brilliant opening quarter set up a win for Mallee Eagles in their Lalbert nest against Tooleybuc Manangatang.
The Eagles soared to a 45-8 lead by quarter-time.
Tooleybuc Manangatang struck back to win term two, 20-13.
A closely-fought third quarter went Mallee’s way, 23-20.
The Saints outscored the Eagles in the final term, 14-8, but it was Mallee which marked an 89-62 victory.
Mallee’s attack was led by Jared Greenbank on four goals as Darcy Hourigan booted three and Cody Henness and Jacob O’Meara added two each.
Leading goalkicker for the Saints was Nayef Hamad on three.
Best for the Eagles were coach Harry Allen, Cody Henness, Jared Greenbank, Billy O’Meara, Darcy McGregor and Jacob Wade.
Nick Ryan, Nayef Hamad, Robbie McComb, Jesse Gosman, Austin Hodge and Lochlan Prentice played well for the Saints.
Tooleybuc Manangatang is jointly coached by Robbie McComb and Nayef Hamad.
A nine-goal haul by Sam Hilton-Joyce highlighted Woorinen’s big win at Lake Boga.
Scores were locked on 22-all at quarter-time.
The Tim Free-coached Tigers led 46-36 by the main break and then surged to a 29-point lead going into the final term.
Woorinen slammed on nine goals in the last quarter to complete a 133-50 victory against the Dean Helmers-coached Magpies.
Hilton-Joyce capped off many of the Tigers’ attacks as Will Collicoat and Jose Miliado kicked three goals each, and Rhys Cason and Lachlan Warburton chipped in with two each.
The Magpies’ attack was led by Rex Hickman on two.
Best for Woorinen were Sam Hilton-Joyce, Jye Barry, Jose Miliado, Oscar Lewis, Robert Rush and Lachlan Warburton.
Lake Boga’s best were Kamen Ogilvie, Braden Padmore, Xavier Sherlock, Bryce Anderson, Marty Parsons and Ryan Fox.
Ultima scored a 13-goal win at home against Murrabit.
The Rick Ladson and Jack Shannahan-coached Murrabit played well to win the first term, 14-10.
In the second it was Storm which scored six goals to be up 50-23 at the main break.
Ultima added another six goals in the third and kept the Blues scoreless.
The Storm went on to win 125-47.
Lucas Caccaviello led the attack on three goals as Kade Benfield, Dustin Burns, Corey Grey and Thomas Isma added two each.
Adam Thomson played well to kick a match-high four goals for Murrabit.
Ultima’s best were Ben Kennedy, Lucas Caccaviello, Thomas Isma, coach Joel Donnan, Jye Purtill and Jake Foster.
Murrabit’s best were Ben Gillingham, Cruz Jolliffe, Bailey Pengelly, Ryan Smyth, Leo Ellison and Adam Thomson.
Nyah Nyah West United jumped to the top of the ladder after a 158-point win at home against Tyntynder.
The Demons led 22-19 at quarter-time and then slammed on eight goals in the second to be up by 57 points at the long break.
A four-goal haul by NNWU in the third was followed by 12 in the last to complete a 185-27 victory.
Beau Schwarze kicked 11 goals in a best-on-ground performance as Jordan Johnston and Jonathon Ross kicked four each.
The Demons also had Charlie Boulton, coach Corey Daniels, Jack Palmer and Liam White add two each.
The Bulldogs’ attack was led by Patrick Crowe on two.
Best for Nyah Nyah West United were Beau Schwarze, Jordan Johnston, Brayden Bigham, Jonathon Ross, Jaydyn Stirling and Liam White.
Harry Simpson, Patrick Crowe, James Phillips, Elia Ware, Sam Bull and Tate Hulland were best for the Darcy Bibby-coached Tyntynder.
Kerang marked a 93-point win against Balranald at Kerang’s Riverside Park.
The Brad Pay-coached Blues led 35-13 at quarter-time and then added 4.2 as they kept the Kangaroos scoreless in the second term.
Quarter three was to be Kerang’s best as it scored eight goals.
Zak Bozanich led the attack as Kerang kicked on for a 133-40 victory.
Other multiple goalkickers for the Blues were Tyson Clingan and Oscar Greenwood on three and Austin Crellin with two.
Best for Kerang were Hugh Bremner, Damian Byrne, Jack Sullivan, Josh Hunter, Rylee Gitsham and Oscar Greenwood.
Ian Fuller, Liam Farnsworth, Ryan Middlebrook, Seb Papa, Brandon Gardiner and Toby Lay were best for the Brent Macleod-coached Balranald.
