THERE were some thrilling finishes and big scores across the weekend’s 15th and final round in the Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League’s home-and-away series for the ’26 season.
Closest margin was two points at the end of the St Monica’s and St Kilian’s-St Peter’s match in the under-12C competition.
The St Monica’s Kangaroos led 38-36 when the siren sounded to end the contest at Crusoe Oval in Kangaroo Flat.
It was a four-point margin in the under-12B match between Eaglehawk and Marong played on Saturday at California Gully Oval.
The Marong Panthers fought on for a 45-41 victory against the Hawks.
Castlemaine clung on for a 56-51 win against South Bendigo in the under-14B match played on Sunday in the Magpies’ nest at Camp Reserve.
Accuracy was a key factor as Kangaroo Flat won the under-15 Girls match against Mount Pleasant.
The Kangaroos scored two goals as Mounts racked up a tally of seven behinds in Sunday’s game at Bendigo Mazda Oval in Kangaroo Flat’s Dower Park.
The Kangaroos led 12-7 at the final siren.
Eight points was the margin in the under-12A match between St Francis and Golden Square played on Saturday at St Francis Oval.
The St Francis team celebrated a 48-40 victory.
Strathfieldsaye fought on for a 65-55 win against Golden Square in the under-16B match played at Triple M Park in Strathfieldsaye’s Tannery Lane.
Several teams went on goalkicking sprees.
Eaglehawk racked up a score of 39.28 (262) in the under-16B match against North Bendigo played at C and M Oval in Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park.
The young Bloods from South Bendigo won the under-16A match against Maiden Gully YCW Eagles by 138 points.
South Bendigo scored 23.17 on Howard Oval in the Mercy Junortoun Sports Precinct.
Two teams in the under-14A competition passed the 160-point mark.
Sandhurst scored 26.15 (171) in a 139-point win against Eaglehawk at C and M Oval in the Borough.
South Bendigo reached a tally of 164 points against White Hills on O’Keefe Oval in the Mercy Junortoun Sports Precinct.
Highest score in the under-16A competition was 155 points by South Bendigo against Maiden Gully YCW Eagles on Howard Oval in the Mercy Junortoun Sports Precinct.
