Tigers outrun Lions in Woorinen

WOORINEN Tigers outran Hay Lions in Saturday’s 10th round in Radio 3SH-backed Central Murray senior footy.

The Tigers charged to a 37-1 lead by quarter-time of the match in Woorinen.

Hay worked hard to outscore Woorinen across the next three quarters by 11 points, but it was the yellow and black which marked a 74-49 victory.

A sign of the yellow and black’s dominance was a tally of 29 scoring shots.

The Tigers’ attack was led by Doug Beames and Lachlan Warburton with two goals each.

Jack Headon kicked two goals for the Lions.

Best for the Tim Free-coached Woorinen were Oscar Lewis, Jye Barry, Lachlan Gardner, Henry Thompson, Kane Reid and Doug Beames.

Tom Sheldrick, Dylan Collis, Ned Reinhard, Jack Cattanach, Joel Crocker and James Lugsdin were Hay’s best.

The Lions are jointly coached by Mick Cattanach and James Moran.

Balranald was under the pump in the final quarter of its clash with Wandella at Balranald’s Greenham Park.

The Brent Macleod-coached Kangaroos led 34-31 at half-time and then scored five goals as they kept the Bombers to just two behinds in the third quarter.

In the last it was Wandella which did plenty of attacking.

The red and black scored 6.4, but Balranald’s score of 1.1 was enough to clinch a 76-73 victory.

Ben Fuller led the Kangaroos’ attack on five goals as Ben Brett and Bailey Brougham added three and two goals.

Wandella’s leading goalkicker was Logan Keighran on three as Joel Gray and coach Justin Robinson slotted two each.

Best for Balranald were Kane Agius, Jack Salau, Liam Farnsworth, Ben Fuller, Ryan Middlebrook and Ben Brett.

Tynan Dove, John Cooper, Justin Robinson, Darcy Ramage, Harvey Macri and Laing Waddingham played well for Wandella.

The Swans from Moulamein won at Lake Boga by three goals.

Just two points separated the teams after three quarters as the Magpies were up 37-35 going into the last term.

As Moulamein scored 4.2 it kept Lake Boga to a goal in the final term.

The Swans were up 61-43 at the final siren.

Brett Kennedy led Moulamein’s attack on four goals.

There were five goalkickers for the Magpies.

Moulamein’s best were Josh Wills, William Doquille, Tobie Richardson, Xander Hartland, Mark Drotsky and Morgan Turvey.

The Swans are jointly coached by Brodie Tonkin and Hayden Dalitz.

Lake Boga’s best were Kamen Ogilvie, Rory Colville, Willem Pye, Marty Parsons, Jordan Reardon and Callan Noonan.

Dean Helmers is coach of the Magpies.

Koondrook Barham kicked away in the second half to score a six-goal win on Kerang’s turf at Riverside Park.

The Marcus Demaria-coached Koondrook Barham led 30-15 at half-time and then won the third term, 21-3.

Both teams scored two goals in the last as the River Raiders led 67-31 at the final siren.

Clayton McCartney led the KB attack on four goals as Cameron Arnold kicked two.

There was no multiple goalkicker for the Brad Pay-coached Kerang.

Best for Koondrook Barham were Jack Poulton, Harry Bremner, Martin Kelly, Patrick Goble, Ryan Bassett and Clayton McCartney.

Kerang’s best were Martin Kelly, Rylee Gitsham, Flynn McKnight, Hugh Bremner, Josh Hunter and Liam Jardine.

Nyah Nyah West United scored a 75-point win at home against Ultima.

A closely-fought first half ended with the NNWU Demons in front, 32-29.

The Demons worked their way to a three-goal lead going into the final quarter.

As Nyah Nyah West United slammed on nine goals in the last it kept Storm to just two behinds.

Alex Erlandson kicked five goals in a 120-45 victory as Kyle Armstrong, Scott Carlin, Riley Daniels and Joel Walsh added two each.

Ultima had six players slot a goal.

Best for the Demons were Lachlan Ritchie, Scott Carlin, Brayden Bigham, Nash Richman, coach Corey Daniels, and Alex Erlandson.

Cameron Johnson, Corey Grey, coach Joel Donnan, Jake Foster, Billy O’Toole and Caillum Brady were Ultima’s best.

Footy was back at Manangatang where Tooleybuc Manangatang marked a 153-15 win against Murrabit.

The Saints slammed on eight goals to nil in the opening term to lead 55-1 at the break.

An evenly-fought second quarter went the way of the Saints, 20-11.

As it added seven goals in the third, Tooleybuc Manangatang kept the Blues scoreless.

Led by the play of Nick Ryan, co-coach Nayef Hamad and seven goals by Josh Chatfield the Saints capped a big win.

Other multiple goalkickers were Hamad, four; co-coach Robbie McComb, three; and Ben Arentz and Zach Prentice on two.

Murrabit’s goal was kicked by Adam Thomson.

The Saints’ best included Cohen Frith, Jedd Morris and Trae Atkinson.

Best for the Blues were co-coach Jack Shannahan, Leo Ellison, Bailey Pengelly, James Russo, Sam Copland and Matt Moon.

Murrabit has Rick Ladson as non-playing co-coach.

Cohuna Kangas surpassed the 200-point mark against Tyntynder at Swan Hill’s Alan Garden Reserve.

As the Kangas kicked 31 goals they kept the Bulldogs to a major in a 204-10 result.

The Kangas finished full of running as they slammed on 14 goals in the final quarter.

Joel Helman and Corbin Anderson led Cohuna’s attack with seven and five goals as Daniel Coates, Riley Hird and Tom Toma kicked three each.

Travis Ford, Sam McGlone, Ricky Monti and Kain Robins added two each.

Charlie Blake was on target for the Darcy Bibby-coached Tyntynder.

Sam McGlone, Tom Toma, Chris Anderson, Joel Helman, Ricky Monti and Jacob Mitchell were best for the Jack Geary-coached Cohuna Kangas.

Tyntynder’s best were Elia Ware, Tate Hulland, Michael Zambelli, Josh Dwyer, Patrick Crowe and Charlie Blake.

Mallee Eagles soared to a 16-goal win in their Lalbert nest against Swan Hill.

The Eagles led 20-5 at quarter-time and then scored six goals in the second to lead 60-17 at the long break.

After scoring three goals in the third, Mallee slammed on nine in the last to complete a 138-42 victory.

Jacob O’Meara and Zac O’Meara led the Eagles’ attack on four and three goals as Jared Greenbank, Cody Henness, Darcy Hourigan, Jack Landt, Jayden Post and Toby Sheahan slotted two each for the Harry Allen-coached Eagles.

There were six goalkickers for the Jason Murphy-coached Swans.

Best for the Eagles were Beau Bennett, Marcus Wattie, Zac and Jacob O’Meara, Jack Landt and Jared Greenbank.

Swan Hill’s best were Matt Gilbee, Xavier Moloney, Lane Cardenas, Luke Phelan, Buol Majur and Tyler Marold.
