Vital match to be played on Bridgewater’s court

LOCKED on 12 premiership points, Bridgewater and Calivil United meet in Saturday’s fifth round of A-grade netball in the Bendigo Bank Loddon Valley Football Netball League.

The third-placed Mean Machine has home-court advantage at Bridgewater for a vital clash with the second-placed Calivil United.

Both teams are determined to stay in touch of the ladder-leading Marong.

In round four, Calivil United applied plenty of heat and skill to score a 39-28 win at home against Mitiamo.

Bridgewater marked its third victory of the season as the Machine rolled to a 59-36 result against Bears Lagoon Serpentine at Gadsden Finance Reserve.

Another big match will be Pyramid Hill’s Mitchell Park where the Bulldogs take on Maiden Gully YCW.

The Bulldogs are on the rebound from a 24-goal loss at Marong and face an Eagles line-up refreshed by the bye.

Maiden Gully YCW is fifth on the ladder, a rung above the Bulldogs.

The ladder-leading Marong makes the trek to Holloway Air Riverside Oval in Newbridge to take on the Maroons.

It’s been a brilliant start to the season by Marong which has achieved three wins and a draw.

The Panthers showed plenty of attacking flair in their latest win at home.

Newbridge will be keen to be back on court after a rest last round because Inglewood is not fielding an A-grade team.

It’s a rest for Mitiamo in A-grade this round, but the Superoos will play Inglewood in the lower grades on the Blues’ court at Dissy Machinery Oval.

Bears Lagoon Serpentine has the bye.

Standings in the Loddon Valley FNL’s A-grade netball competition:

Marong 125 per cent, 14 points; Calivil United 163, 12; Bridgewater 129, 12; Mitiamo 127, 10; Maiden Gully YCW 138, 8; Pyramid Hill 72, 4; Newbridge 52, 4; Bears Lagoon Serpentine 57, 0; Inglewood 0, 0.
