WEDDERBURN outran Birchip-Watchem Bulls in Saturday’s third round match in Goldacres North Central FNL senior footy.
The Redbacks led by 20 points at half-time and then broke clear in the final quarter.
Although Birchip-Watchem won the third term, 10-7, it was Wedderburn which led 44-27 going into the final quarter.
The Tom Metherell-coached Redbacks slammed on eight goals in the last to complete a 93-42 victory.
Tyler Curtis, Oscar Holt and Jye Mortlock kicked two goals each for the red and black.
Birchip-Watchem’s leading goalkicker was Ricardo Liparota on two.
Wedderburn’s best were Rory Lehmann, Zach Pallpratt, Sam Lockhart, Tyler Curtis, Mitch McEwen and Jye Mortlock.
Meyrick Buchanan, Rhona Conboy, Heath Smith, Jonty Randall, Sam Simmons and Harry Cook were best for the Bulls.
Sea Lake Nandaly dominated its home game against St Arnaud at Sea Lake Oval.
The Tigers raced to a 55-7 lead by quarter-time.
St Arnaud hit back to win the second term, 15-14.
Defences were on top in the third as SLN scored 1.4 and the Saints added 1.1.
The yellow and black fired up in the last to slam on eight goals on the way to a 132-41 victory.
Max Cahoon capped a superb match with eight goals as Adam Pattison added three and Thomas Cox and Chase Tait kicked two each.
The Saints’ leading goalkicker was Max Hungerford on two.
Best for Sea Lake Nandaly were Max Cahoon, Thomas Cox, Bryce Delmenico, Wade Donnan, Robin Nahas and Charlie Cox.
The Tigers are jointly coached by Boyd Bailey and Wade Donnan.
Max Hungerford, Lucas Bridger, Tanner Owen, Joe Maishman, Jay Kirwood and Sean Holroyd were best for the Harley Durward and Darby Schilder-coached Saints.
Donald marked a 111-point win at home against Charlton.
The Royals raced to a 34-nil lead by quarter-time and then slammed on 9.1 in the second to be up by 82 points at the long break.
Ashley Reed was in superb touch with eight goals as Bronte Campbell, Baxter Donnellon, George Morgan and Daniel Pearce kicked two each in a 142-31 victory.
Ashley Reed, Pala Kuma, Lachlan Sneddon, Daniel Pearce and George Morgan were best for Donald team jointly coached by Daniel Pearce and Matt Walder.
Nick Thompson, Jeff Debast, Ben Lanyon, Rhys and Jed Thompson, and Leigh Van Boven were best for the Carl Thiesz-coached Navies.
Calder United Lions scored a 13-goal win against Boort in Nullawil.
The Lions slammed on nine goals in the opening term to be up 57-31 at the first break.
Calder United won the next three quarters by margins of 12, 30 and 10.
At the final siren the Jordan Humphreys and Tom Bickley-coached Lions led 150-72.
Gun recruit Steven Stroobants slotted eight goals in a best afield performance as Dale Pearce kicked six.
The Lions had Steven Kennedy, Justin Laird, Jordan Hughes and Rylee Smith boot two goals.
Boort’s attack was led by Kayne Rutley on four as Liam Bianco and Ethan Coleman kicked two each.
