Young Bloods outrun Tigers in Rochester

SOUTH Bendigo scored a 10-goal victory against Rochester in the under-16A match on Sunday as part of round seven in Bendigo Bank Bendigo Junior Football League action.

The young Bloods made their way to the Tigers’ den at Rochester’s Windridge Oval.

At quarter-time South Bendigo led 17-2 and then won the second term, 15-13.

In the third the Bloods upped their pressure and run to score four goals as the Tigers added one major.

South Bendigo slammed on five goals in the last to complete a 95-35 victory.

Ryder Marriott marked a top match with five goals for the Bloods as Miller Slattery added two.

Other goalkickers for the red and white were Charlie Cook, Tyson Floreani, Callan McCarthy, Thomas McMurray, Noah Poole and Wesley Scholtes.

The Bloods’ best were Charlie Cook, Harvey Keating, Tarkyn Ralphs, Harvey Long, Ryder Marriott and Jesse Mitchell.

South Bendigo tackled Huntly in the under-16B match at Harry Trott Oval.

The Hawks raced to a 17-nil lead by quarter-time.

South Bendigo worked hard in the next two quarters to score 13 and 16 points as the Hawks added 14 and 14 points.

By the last change Huntly led 45-29 on the way to a 49-31 victory.

Goalkickers for South Bendigo were Bailey Bradley, Harry Hardingham, Ryan Hinck and Lachlan Turnbull.

Best for the Bloods were Edwin Murphy, Jake Grose, Dustin Hill, Eli Palmer, Ajay Sonti and Darcy France.

It was a 73-point win for South Bendigo in the under-14B match against Golden Square at Harry Trott Oval in Kennington’s Neale Street.

The Bloods were up 18-6 at quarter-time and 38-12 by the long break.

South Bendigo slammed on five goals and kept the Bulldogs scoreless in the third quarter.

A great match by Hudson Membrey was capped with five goals as Hunter Clemetson kicked two.

Other goalkickers for the red and white were Harry Burchell, Archer Griffin, Harry Sheldrick, Duke Thurgood and Ed White.

Best for South Bendigo were Lucas McCarthy, Hudson Membrey, Taj Williams, Hunter Clementson, Gus Robertson and Ben Baker.

Defences were on top in the under-15 Girls match between South Bendigo and Kangaroo Flat at Harry Trott Oval.

At the final siren the Kangaroos led nine-nil.

Best for South Bendigo were Maysie Hamilton, Mackinnon Murphy, Zahra Macumber, Macie Pilcher, Gemma Elliott and Annabel van Dillen.

Round seven kicked off with the under-12 Girls matches on Friday night.

Play was at C and M Oval in Eaglehawk’s Canterbury Park; Kennington’s Harry Trott Oval; Bendigo’s Ewing Park; and Rochester’s Windridge Oval.

South Bendigo White played Eaglehawk Eagles at Canterbury Park.

After being scoreless in the opening three quarters, South Bendigo faced a 14-point deficit going into the final quarter.

Audrey James goaled for the Bloods and her team-mates worked hard to stop the Hawks adding to their score.

At the final siren Eaglehawk led 14-6.

Best for South Bendigo White were Audrey James, Sophia McDonald, Sadie Hardingham, Havana Makoni, Azlyn Bell and Nellie Worme.

South Bendigo Red was on home turf at Harry Trott Oval for the under-12 Girls match against Golden Square.

The Bulldogs charged to an 18-2 lead by half-time.

Both teams kicked a goal in the third term.

Although the Bloods won the last, 8-7, it was the blue and gold which marked a 31-16 victory.

Goalkickers for the Reds were Olivia Gardiner and Ruby Wilson.

South Bendigo Red’s best were Olivia Gardiner, Matisse Pilcher, Ruby Wilson, Maddi Barry, Darcy Ketterer-Smith and Charlotte Morrissey.

In the under-12A competition, South Bendigo was in top form against Strathfieldsaye at Harry Trott Oval.

The young Bloods were up 17-nil at half-time and then scored three goals in the third.

A tally of four goals in the last sealed a 68-nil win for South Bendigo.

Goalkickers were Teddy Taylor on two as Blake Felsbourg, Lenny Flaherty, Jed Hardinge, Rupert Marshall, Lenny Moroni, Leo Taylor and Hunter Tomlins kicked one each.

Best for the Bloods were Hunter Tomlins, Rupert Marshall, Jed Hardinge, Teddy Taylor and Lenny Moroni.

South Bendigo faced St Monica’s in the under-12C match at Crusoe College in Kangaroo Flat.

The Kangaroos skipped away for a 33-17 victory.

Goalkickers for South Bendigo were Jevan DeAraugo and Ben Lotter.

Flynn Smyth, Hugh Jeffrey, Brodie Runciman, Ben Lotter, Ronny Epps and Nate Burnett were best for the Bloods.

South Bendigo was on home turf at Harry Trott Oval for the under-12D match against Kangaroo Flat.

The Kangaroos marked a 56-16 victory.

A list of South Bendigo’s goalkickers and best players was not supplied.

It was a bye for South Bendigo’s under-14A team.

The Bloods make their way to Triple M Park for this Sunday’s match against Strathfieldsaye.

South Bendigo’s under-14C team also had a bye.

Round eight features the Bloods taking on Maiden Gully YCW Eagles on Sunday at Marist College Bendigo.
